Ford Leaves Boston in Dissapointment

Boston, MA - WBA fan favorite Wes Ford has recently been informed that the Boston Massacre will not be
pursing his services next season. Ford's fans describe him as a tall, dark and handsome individual with an above average jump shot.

As many spectators are well aware of, Wes only remains in this league for economic reasosns. His charming
personality has been the voice of reason for both Boston and the WBA. However, in his two seasons for Boston, he averaged a worthless 1.1 points per game in 19 games. His lack of skill to go along with a few complaints have escalated into a dramatic soap opera.

Contention between Ford and the Boston Personnel has been rising ever since the Sheldon Maloney incident,
in the blowout win over the Virgin Islands. Ford reportedly wanted some minutes, so he replaced Maloney's water bottle with vodka. Wes claims that it was an innocent mistake. Boston claims they will not tolerate Ford's childish pranks anymore. "He's gone like Shawn Kemp's diet -- I hope other teams and girls will stay away from this manipulative big shot," said Boston Center, Bill Yeager.

"I gave every calorie of enery I had," excalimed Wes Ford. "The front office doesn't think I can cut it as a player? That's pure blasphemy. Maybe if  they actually played me! It makes as much sense as the urine patterns I made in the snow the other day."

The Plummer Play-off Predictions

Western Conference

#8 Utah vs. #1 Colorado (Colorado won season series 3-1)

I have always been a fan of Utah. They have a nice starting 5, but they just have no bench, and the last time I checked, they have no coach. The key to this series will be fouls. If Utah can stay out of foul trouble then I think they have a legit shot at winning this series. If they can't, then Samir Sheth will take over. Unfornately, no coach and no bench will not be able to beat the best team in the league. I do think this will be closer than people might think.
Prediction: Colorado wins series 3-1

#7 Montana vs. #2 Cancun (Cancun won season series 3-1)

Montana is probably the worst playoff team. If they had this same group of players from the start, I don't think they would've even cracked 30 wins. Any time Jevon Carter is your leading scorer, you know you're in trouble. Kent Mercer and Parker Mason will just be too much to handle. The key to this series will be luck because Montana will need it. Montana has no shot and will get blown out of the water.
Prediction: Cancun wins series 3-0

#6 Capetown vs. #3 Oregon (Oregon won season series 3-1)

Oregon is my sleeper team. I think people forget how dangerous Lou is come playoff time. I think people also understimate Lou's supporting cast. Buck Jones has turned into one of the top point guards, Herman Burke is rejuvenated, and Mosley is the real deal. Capetown on the otherhand, they could be considered a sleeper team, but I doubt if they have enough firepower. I also don't think they have anyone who can match up against Lou, which is a huge problem. I don't think this series will be close, but I wouldn't be surpriese if Capetown stole a game.
Prediction: Oregon wins series 3-1

#5 Nebraska vs. #4 Texas (Split season series 2-2)

I'll be honest, I am not a fan of Texas. I think they're vastly overrated. It seems like they lost all team chemistry when they traded Kadeem Reed to Washington. Nebraska on the other hand is a dangerous team because we all know they have potential to be a great team. The key to this series will be shutting down at least one of the big 2--Wayne Taylor and Dave Williams. I don't really see that happening. I trust Brandon to show up for the playoffs.
Prediction: Nebraska wins series 3-0

Eastern Conference

#8 Gabon vs. #1 Brooklyn (Split season series 2-2)

Well, Gabon has to be happy because they avoid Washington who they are 0-11 all-time against in the playoffs. With the exception of Brooklyn's championship season, both of these teams are known for playing soft come playoff time. Gabon has talent, but once again, like every year, they lack a point guard and center, which are the 2 most important positions on the basketball court. Meanwhile, Brooklyn has both of those and more. The key to this series will be rebounding. If Gabon can stay close in the rebounding margin, then I think they have a shot at pulling off an upset. Brooklyn though, appears to be on a mission.
Prediction: Brooklyn wins series 3-0

#7 Boston vs. #2 Albacete (Albacete won season series 3-1)

One thing that I think goes towards Boston's advantage is the fact that they have 2 guys on their team that can take over a game, whereas Albacete only has one. This is why I think Albacete is vulnerable this year. The key to this series is stopping Harry Jarvis. Now, I know that's easier said than done, but if Boston can at least contain him, then Short and Yeager can take over for Boston. If Boston could pass the ball as well as they do passing gas, then I'd pick Boston with confidence. But I'm still going to go with my gut instinct on this one.
Prediction: Boston wins series 3-2

#6 Birmingham vs. #3 Washington (Split season series 2-2)

Let's face the facts. Washington is without one of their best players for this series and the next couple if they make it that far. Leo Rice did all the intangible stuff to make Washington a winner. He passed, rebounded, blocked shots, and stole the ball. Without him, Washington will be missing a little bit of all that. Birmingham might actually be the favorite to win this series considering the circumstances. They have Blackstone who is a great post season player and lots of weapons. The key to this series will be rebounding because that's the one area where Washington is the most vulnerable without Rice. If Washington can outrebound, then they'll be fine.
Prediction: Birmingham wins series 3-1

#5 London vs. #4 Budapest (London won season series 3-1)

This is a toss up. I never know what to expect from London. They are capable of going really far, but they are also capable of losing early. Budapest does not play defense though, which is a surprise because they've had some really good defensive teams in the past. There's the old adage--defense wins championships. The key to this series is Budapest's defense. If they hold London under 100, then I think they win. London has Colbert and Davidson, so that might be hard to do. It should be a very close series.
Prediction: London wins series 3-2

SECOND ROUND

#5 Nebraska vs. #1 Colorado (Colorado won season series 4-0)
Prediction: Colorado wins series 4-2

#3 Oregon vs. #2 Cancun (Oregon won season series 3-1)
Prediction: Oregon wins series 4-2

#5 London vs. #1 Brooklyn (Brooklyn won season series 4-0)
Prediction: Brooklyn wins series 4-1

#7 Boston vs. #6 Birmingham (Birmingham won season series 3-1)
Prediction: Boston wins series 4-3

CONFERENCE FINALS

#3 Oregon vs. #1 Colorado (Split season series 2-2)
Prediction: Oregon wins series 4-2

#7 Boston vs. #1 Brooklyn (Brooklyn won season series 4-0)
Prediction: Brooklyn wins series 4-0

WBA FINALS

#3 Oregon vs. #1 Brooklyn (Split season series 1-1)
Prediction: Oregon wins WBA Championship 4-3

Bill Blackstone- 11012 10102 11112 01012 10112= 24

Wow! The shoot-off was fantastic. If any of the four could have shot like that in round one they would have gone on for sure. Sean Ashman just shot one of the best rounds ever. If he kieeps shooting like this he has a real shot to beat the favorite, Wayne Taylor.

Round 2

Yuri Valasny- 10112 11112 10110 11102 10112= 24
Wayne Taylor- 01110 00002 11102 11102 10112= 20

Abdullah Chanda- 00102 11112 10012 10102 10100= 19

Talk about exciting. Wayne Taylor choked on that second rack and tried hard to recover but he couldn't quite do it. There was talk about how clutch Williams had been in this contest. After the fourth rack of this round he had not missed a money ball and only needed two points to force a shoot off and three to make it to the next round. But, he choked hard on that fifth rack only making one shot and missing the money ball. What was shaping up to be a great clutch performance turned out to be one of the biggest chokes in the history on the 3 point contest.

Round 3

Yuri Valasny- 11010 01110 11102 00112 00002= 17
Sean Ashman- 11012 11110 11112 01100 11112= 23
Tony DiMateo- 01100 00102 11112 11112 11112= 23
Parker Mason- 01102 01112 10112 00110 11112= 22

Not only is the West dominating this contest but the young guys are really on fire. Mason had a very good round but couldn't quite get it done. DiMateo had the best clutch performance I have ever seen in this contest. after two racks it looked like he was out of it but he hit his last 16 shots and tied Ashman. He may be a rookie but he isn't shooting like it.

Finals

Sean Ashman- 01112 00012 01110 11112 10002= 20
Tony DiMateo- 11012 11112 11002 01102 11112= 25

This was a huge day for DiMateo. It really makes you wonder about how good this kid will become. He has the shooting ttouch from long range but is soo skinny that he just gets beat around on the inside. He has a ton of talent but can he develope it in the right direction.

The Annual Alcarez Mock Draft

1.-ALBACETE (from Virgin Islands): This offseason, a lot of contracts end for Albacete, and only their top 2 players will be under contract, thats Jarvis and Cress, player gotten from draft and 14 M to spend in free agents. It is well known that In Albacete, everybody would love to have Tyler Kane playing there, but it's doubtful that I am crazy enough to pick him with the top pick. Experience says that you have to pick the best player available, and that is Juwan Bixby. Bixby is a great talent in the offensive end of the court, and its clear that he needs to improve his defense, but his shooting ability is awesome and he rebounds like the best. Albacete has Cress, but he is easy to move to PF, last time Albacete did that, they won the Championship
JUWAN BIXBY: 26.1 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 1.7 bpg

2.-MONTANA: (from California): Anybody knows if Montana will keep these picks they have in the top seven, given all the trades they have made this season. Right now, they are set in the backcourt, with the best passer in the league and a great young player like Dennis Evans at the SG; the rest of the team is at the best correct. Edgar Kamara should be the selection without discussion, but there are concerns about who will score, we know that Vislany nor Evans are even average scorers, and Kamara is a great all around player, but he cant score at will. It will be interesting the decision Michael has to make, he could make the best passing team in the league pairing Vislany and Kamara or getting someone to receive all these assists in Paul Spagnoli. Spagnoli is the offensive flayer for excellence, but he rebounds very well and has solid fundamentals in defense.
PAUL SPAGNOLI: 24.8 ppg, 8.3 rpg, 0.9 bpg, 1.3 FPG

3.-COLORADO (from Cincinnatti): Colorado is pretty much set with his team nowadays. The positions to improve are SF and C, and with Van Brandt getting old ( he should be traded to make room for new contacts next season), the smartest choice would be Edgar Kamara. Kamara is a playmaker who will play great defense and wont command his share of shots.
EDGAR KAMARA: 14.7 ppg, 7.3 rpg, 7.9 apg, 2.9 spg, 1.4 bpg

4.-OREGON (from Carolina): With one of the best frontcourts in the league, the SG and the SF are the weak links in this team. Gone Kamara, Kevin will have to choose between Bishop Stein and Maury Coleman. Coleman in the better scorer, no doubt about it, but Stein is a very good passer and rebounder from his position, and he can play some PG too. Maybe the decision will be based in the defense they can play, and consequently, Stein will be the chosen
BISHOP STEIN:  13.1 ppg, 7.1 rpg, 7.3 apg, 2.4 spg, 0.9 bpg

5.- ROSWELL: This team is in problems. Their only valuable players are Dasher and Greene, and this one has his career in jeopardy because of his excessive playing time. The team need some backcourt hellp to start winning games. Tyler Kane is the best pure PG in last drafts coming from GCBA. HE can pass, he rebounds very well, will be in the top of the league as for steals, and controls the ball with intelligence. He leads the league in passing, but given the quality of his teamates, he could have given more than 10 assists per game
TYLER KANE: 10.7ppg, 5.2 rpg, 8.4 apg, 3.1 spg

6. MONTANA (from Salt Lake City): Like I said before, Montana needs scoring, and there is a name, probably the best frontcourt scorer available in draft is Anthony Curtis. He is a pure scorer from anywhere on the court, and he rebounds well enough to be a player in the next level
ANTHONY CURTIS: 18.5 ppg, 9.0 rpg, 1.4 bpg

7. MONTANA (from Omaha): With a PF and a C, a SF would close the circle for this team. Stan Lee is a perfect fit here, since hes a well rounded player who plays aggressive defense. Besides, he will get it done in the offensive department
STAN LEE: 15.3 ppg, 6.3 rpg, 2.6 apg, 2.1 spg

8.UTAH: This team has the foundation to be pretty solid. Alvin Simpson and John Van Horne are good starters and Devonta Corrigan is a star in the league, but Mark Miller is gone, unless some major trades are coming. With Leonel Coles moving to starter, the SG is the most flagrant need this team has. Maury Coleman is the player they will end loving. He is a scoring machine with an incredible range. He shoots threes like lieups and will be the second scorer that Utah has always needed
MAURY COLEMAN: 21.0 ppg, 6,3 rpg, 2.6 spg

9. LONDON (from New York): In terms of depth, this team needs a guard. As a team, I am concerned that they are stuck in mediocrity. Don't get me wrong, London is a good team, but the are out of amno to give the next step as their top players are reaching the top of their careers. Kelvin Davidson is slowing and there is no substitution for him. David could opt for a player like Ryan Cuevas. Cuevas is a combo guard with a great ability to rebound and defend, and although he has a shoot first attitude, he is capable to give some assists. FG% could be an issue, but he is worth the risk
RYAN CUEVAS: 12.8ppg, 6.9 rpg, 5.5apg, 2.2spg, 1.4 bpg

10.- NEBRASKA(from Baltimore): Here we have the team with the best offensive punch in the league, but they are a little short at the PG or C.Kodak cant get it done alone, and Spiegel has been a underachiever wherever he has played. Vance Clapp is maybe the best rebounder in draft and a solid offensive player who will make all the defensive stuff without fouling too much. He needs to be involved in the offensive end some more, but if there is a team in need of an unshelfish player, that is Nebraska
VANCE CLAPP:12.4 ppg, 11rpg, 2.0 bpg, 1.3 fpg

11.- ALBACETE (from Rochester): Albacete will look for some rebound, once the offesnsive woes are solved. While Quentin Christensen is by far the top rebounder in GCBA, he has no game out of boards. But Ezequiel Grunspan can score too and is a very good rebounder. Its clear he shoots too much, but hes young and has the makings of a long pro career
EZEQUIEL GRUNSPAN: 15.5 ppg, 11.1 rpg, 2bpg

12. CAROLINA (from Varese): This team is without any inside game, and this is a killer. Reed Moses is the best center available here. He has a very good all around game, with strong rebounding and shotblocking and he is a reliable scorer, although hes a more defensive oriented player
REED MOSES: 9.2ppg, 6.5rpg, 1.3 bpg

13.- OMAHA (from Miami): Omaha is I need of a SG or a SF most of all. Their frontcourt is set if there aren't any major trades. One of the best scorers availables is Maurice Evers, capable of scoring at will. While the rest of areas are slightly over the average, some rebounds and a good defense make him a good pick
MAURICE EVERS: 19.8ppg, 5.2 rpg, 2.6 spg

14.- GABON: This team still hasn't found his C through draft, and everything indicates that they will try once more. Look at this team, they are good everywhere, but their centers suck. Trenton Meehan seems a good fit. Maybe he will  never be an allstar, but if he can get 8 boards and block 2 shots every night, Gabon will improve immediately
TRENTON MEEHAN: 14 ppg, 9.1 rpg, 2,4 rpg

15.- MONTANA: That's the 4th pick this team has, and they should go for the best player available. Dennis Evans has a good future, but he will need a good backup if Montana wants to contend something. Scott Currie is their man. He isn't special, unless you look at his rebounding ability. He is the 1st shooting guard in the history of GCBA in averaging over 10 boards. You cant ask him to score a lot, but he is a definitive team player
SCOTT CURRIE: 14.8ppg, 10.8 rpg, 1.1 bpg

16.- CAPETOWN: Last draft was great for this team. They have just got a Hall of Fame PG in Chuck Henderson, now, if they can pick a SG or a C…they would be a pair of spots higher. Scott Currie is a good fit for this team. Hes a great team player who passes the ball perfectly well, he could even backup Chuck at the PG when needed
PAUL CARROLL: 12ppg, 7.0 apg, 1.9 spg

17.- BOSTON: Every ship need a captain, every flight need a pilot, and a good team needs a PG at the command of operations. Do you need a better example? This draft is deep in guards with good passing ability, and Eric Saks is a very competent player for his position, and while he wont score a lot, he has the tools to make it easier for his teamates
ERIK SAKS: 7.5 ppg, 5.0 apg, 1.4 spg

18.- CAPETOWN (from Birmhingan):  Once the SG has been selected, now we need a C here. No doubt, the best available is Joe Cochran. Hes not an excellent player, but he can contribute a little bit everywhere on the court.
JOE COCHRAM: 16.8ppg, 10.6 rpg, 2.1bpg

19.- COLORADO (from Budapest): In some moment next season, Colorado will have to choose between Greg Lacy and Heiko Van Brandt, and maybe a PF would be the next selection here. Sorry but no more stars left this deep in draft, but could Matt Arhcer find a space in that team if any of those stars has to part ways? Right now hes only a serviceable backup, but Colorado could be the right fit for him
MATT ARCHER: 12ppg, 8.6rpg, 2.1 bpg

20.- WASHINGTON(from London): Maybe this team could use a little more depth at the SG, because Kadeem Reed cant held his own alone. Sure they will have a lot of money this offseason, but it's a safe move to pick a SG. Brent Bangerter is the only one who could adjust to the role that Sam would assign him. He goes to the line a lot and that's enough to play for Washington
BRENT BANGERTER: 8.4ppg, 4.1 apg
21.- ALBACETE (from Nebraska): Albacete wish list at this point will be exactly that…a PG with a pass first mentality. Isaac Edmonson would fill the role just like Albacete wants. Great court vision, great on the ball defense, a pure PG
ISAAC EDMONSON:6.2ppg, 6.8 apg, 3.0 spg

22.- SALT LAKE CITY (from Washington):  Will Keith Douglas be a Fanatic next season? That's the question Brad has to ask himself first of all. If the answer is no, this team needs a PG in the worst way, and if hes able to keep Douglas, then a PF to help Eaton should be selected. With almost two consecutive picks, Brad should fill both voids. Jim Charles is an offensive weapon from the power forward. He is capable to fight for a rebound with anyone
JIM CHARLES: 17.1ppg, 6.9 rpg, 1.8 spg

23.- TEXAS: This frontcourt is set for years to come (always that Gus doesn't go crazy one more time and trade Jarius Miles for Wes Ford). But backcourt is devastated here, and someone will have to put the ball inside the paint without asking questions. Al Harvey has no offensive game, but he always finds the best option on offense, and that's the major need that Texas has
AL HARVEY: 5.8 ppg, 5.0rpg, 6.8 apg

24.- SALT LAKE CITY (from Oregon): Like I said before, with a PF selected, Brad will need to prevent the loss of Douglas. Milo Chambers wont be like Douglas, but he could play his role for seasons. Good passer and good allaround player. Maybe hes too good to play for the Fanatics.
MILO CHAMBERS: 7.1 ppg, 5.1 apg,  2spg

25.- ROCHESTER (from Cancun): with the loss of two hall of famers, Dave ought to start thinking about building a new backcourt. While there will be only role players at this point, Marvin Lee could be a hidden gem with his ability to play both guard positions and the court vision to put the ball wherever he wants
MARVIN LEE: 7.7 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 7.1 apg

26.- MIAMI (from Albacete): This team needs a forward in the worst way possible, and the best one available is Alex Yura. Alex is the brother of that HS phenom who resulted to be a bust. But he has been smart enough to end his 4 years of college. His defense assures him a future in the league
ALEX YURA: 13.9ppg, 5rpg, 1.8 spg

27.- CALIFORNIA (from Brooklyn): Californis was a rising team some season ago, but hes stuck on mediocrity now. The needs? A awful lot. Maybe an inside presence could help them a little, and Aleksei Vasilev can really play in the paint.
ALEKSEI VASILEV: 13ppg, 8.8rpg, 2.2 spg

28.- BUDAPEST (from Colorado): This team is really deep, but they will have problem in a few seasons given the age of their best players. The spot they could need the most is the PF, and Harry Kramer is a well rounded player who could play a role for this team
HARRY KRAMER: 16.9ppg, 7.5 rpg, 4.3 apg, 3.0 spg

The End of an Era-
Owner/Coach/GM of NY to step down from team at End of Season
By Brett Mcnabb

After an embarrassing loss to Birmingham at home, with the fans screaming FIRE GOODSTADT!... owner/coach/gm Steven Goodstadt has told his team that he will be stepping down from his posts and selling his team at the end of the season. Goodstadt will step down for personal reasons, saying that he wants to focus on going to college in the fall, and that time restraints would hamper his ability to be the same coach he was when the WBA first started.

The youngest coach in the league, Goodstadt had enjoyed some early success, making the playoffs his first three seasons. Despite the playoff trips, he never won a round in the playoffs, coming close once when his team blew a two game lead on Gabon in the second season. His downfall began when he got trade happy and traded star point guard Kelvin Davidson to London for two average players and a pick. Then traded star center Horace Colbert for two players who were good in their prime. Goodstadt didn't get his team to the playoffs again until season 7.

"I feel this is something I have to do," said Goodstadt. "I've been in this league since the start, and I feel I just need a break."

Goodstadt, who along with Brooklyn's owner Rondall Reynoso and Boston's owner Corey Bowen, is one of only original members left. The three owners were also coaching in the GBA a long time ago.
Goodstadt hasn't counted out coming back. "I want to take a break and get everything settled out. Hopefully in the near future, maybe after a season or two i can try to come back, maybe try my fortunes with another team. But it's been fun, and i hope that the new coach can make NY one of the powerhouses in the league," said Goodstadt.

Another WBA Accident

Unlike so many previous tragedies this one wasn't the fault of a WBA player. Mike Farrell of Colorado was in a car accident this morning. He wasn't drunk or on drugs he was simply waiting in his car for a friend to come out of the grociery store (the friend was buying a few items for his elderly mother). A teen ager with their permit was legally driving with her mother when she lost control going around a corner and crashed into Farrell's car. The teen and her mother have only minor injuried, they were in a Minivan. Farrell however has several broken ribs and a broken arm, he was in a Porche. Doctor's say there is nothing complex about Farrell's injuries and they expect him to fully recover, but he will miss the rest of the season.

News

Utah fans are getting the reputation for being very agressive. Chaim Sowders today got suspended for one game after spitting on a Utah fan. Chaim's claim is that the fan repeatedly yelled anti-semitic comments. Unfortunately, no one associated with the league heard what was said and the fans friends are all claiming that he did nothing of the sort.

Patrick O'Connor of New York broke his hand today and will miss 24 games.

Carolina's Nick Bavos lost his twin brother in a car accident. Nick has not been responding well to the loss. WBA insiders expect his game to suffer.

Jonathan Booth of SLC has a hign ankle sprain and will miss the next 28 games.

November 29th, 2003

Suspensions

Jarius Miles of Texas received a one game suspension for pushing Tom Perkins after todays game. Miles said "Some of the things he said during the game were beyond acceptable and then when he piped up again after the game I couldn't takee it any more."

Jarius, this isn't high school anymore!

Gabon's Magic Toby also received a suspension today after spitting on a Boston fan who was shouting racial profanities at him all game.

November 29th, 2003

Dog Attack!

Tyson Cooper of Cancun will miss Monday's game as he recuperates from being bit by his aunts Teacup Poodle.

November 22nd, 2003

Injuries Strike!!!

Quintin Pitt of Nebraska dislocated his knee in todays game. Doctors say there appears to be some tendon damage and they expect him to miss a good portion of the season. Nebraska has been the hottest team in the league to start the season and loosing Pitt will be quite a hit. He has been playing 26 minutes a game for Nebraska and leads the team in steals.

Cancun's Tony Gaston broke his hand today. Reports are mixed as to how he borke it. Some say that it was in a bar fight some say that he broke it hitting his wifesboy friend. No matter how it happened he will be out of uniform for quite a while. The worst news for Cancun however is that Shawn McKick tore his achilleas tendon today. Teams doctors say that he will miss the rest of the season and they question if he will ever be the player he was before the injury. Cancun already had a short rotation and the loss of McKick will open up 36 minutes a game at the shoooting guard possition that they will have to fill.

Major Blow to the Roswell Franchise

Everyone who even keeps a causual eye on the WBA knows that Roswell has been over playing John Greene for years. Yet it always seemed that they were getting away with it. Greene has always been a hard worker and kept his body is great shape. But, wear and tear can hit the most fit.

Over the summer Greene tore his ACL. He has had successful reconstructive surgery but Doctors say that eventhough he will be ready for the season he will never be the player he once was.

Around the WBA

In Seven seasons of play Brooklyn's Joe Siebert has never missed a game. This last season he played through some tremendous pain resulting in the lowest field goal percentage of his career. He had corrective surgery on his back during the off-season and will be ready for the season and at full strength. However, team doctors say they expect he will have to take the occassional game off this season if he hopes to have a long and fruitful career.

Exerpt from Washington Press Conference

The Washington Monuments would like to announce that SF Arron Black will not be back with the team and is retiring from the World Basketball Association. While in Washington, Black found God for the first time and his life. During the offseason, he went to Africa to do missionary work for a couple of weeks. Last night, owner Sam Plummer, received a phone call from Arron saying that he has decided to retire to become a mission worker for the rest of his life. While the Plummer and the Monument family are deeply saddened by his sudden retirement, they are happy that Arron is doing a great thing with his life. Arron Black was one of the best players this league has ever seen and had everything he could ask for, but has realized that there are more important things in life than basketball.

Drugs and the WBA

As with most other professional sports leagues the WBA has deffinate drug related issues. The most famous drug related case with in the WBA is of course when Pee-Wee Stoddard spent Season 2 in jail. That year was a huge blow to his career and he never quite recovered to play at the level he did before the conviction. May people forget that Mike Sewell also missed Season 2 with a suspension from the league. He, however, was able to continue on with a productive career. And the list does not end there. Ray Johnson missed Season 3 due to violating the WBA drug policy as did Charlie Elkington in Season 6 and Sebastion Cole last year. The WBA takes this issue very seriously.

Still, despite all the WBA has done to curb its drug problem today we hear of its most disturbing instance to date. T.J. McFarland has been arrested not only for taking drugs but for also dealing them. This obviously is a huge blow to Budapest. But, the most disturbing part of this story is that McFarland was caught selling drugs to some Budapest box holders. The entire Budapest community is in shock over this story that not only involves one of their favorite palyers but several wealthy local businessmen. Reports are the T.J. will plead guilty for a reduced sentance and will miss this comming season to serve jail time.
